• Multiple boot installation A multiple boot installation is one in which multiple operating systems are installed on a computer, and the user can select which operating system to use during system startup. If you install XP as an additional operating system on a computer, you still have to reinstall any applications you want to use when running XP. The advantage of using a multiple boot installation over an upgrade or clean installation is that you can retain the previous operating system and installed applications.
